December 14, 2020 - According to Mining Magazine, the shortlist for the 2020 Mining Magazine Awards has been decided after weeks of deliberation. Hawk Measurement (HAWK) has been selected as a Finalist in the 2020 Mining Magazine Awards. Each year Mining Magazine celebrates excellence in the mining industry by inviting their readers to nominate people, companies, groups or projects that they feel have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the state of play in mining over the past 12 months. Voting starts today and commences on December 18, 2020. The winners will be announced in the January/February print issue of Mining Magazine, and on miningmagazine.com on January 25, 2021.

Fiber optic sensing is increasingly being utilized throughout the mining industry to monitor conveyor and power cable health. On a conveyor belt, a fiber optic sensing system can detect idlers that have failed or will soon fail, saving operators plenty. The Praetorian Fiber Optic Sensing System developed by Hawk Measurement Systems can also detect conveyor fires, report in real-time and can monitor up to 80km of conveyor.
