Principle of Operation
HAWK's loop-powered indicator is compatible with any device that provides a 4-20mA output and does not need a separate power supply. The most common use for the HLI is providing an easily accessible field display that indicates the measurement of a loop-powered device. The user may place it anywhere in the wiring run of the loop so there is no need to walk a long distance or climb a tall vessel to view an instrument display. Some instruments do not include a display at all, so the HLI can add this feature to the user's installation.
The HAWK loop field indicator (HLI) is a versatile field display fully compatible with HAWK Level Instruments and all 2 wire loop analog devices. The fully backlit display shows versatile measurement units of the loop including graphic bar graphs. Voltage drop is minimal. The Display turns red if the Current input is out of range, or if the programmed Hi / Low Current Alarm value is reached allowing potential problematic measurement conditions to be easily detected in the field.
